On Friday 9th June, we joined staff and residents from Moorlands Care Home at South Park in Darlington for a game of bowls and trishaw rides around the park.

It was a beautiful morning, the sun was shining and the birds were singing. When we arrived, we watching the residents take part in their games of bowls before joining them for some lunch. After they had eaten, we took the staff and residents for a ride around the park and down to the duck pond to admire the wildlife.

For some of the residents, it was the first time that they had the opportunity to ride on Trixie but their smiles tell me that it won’t be their last time, given the opportunity!

While we were there we met Lottie and Alex, who were very inquisitive about the work that we do. Lottie asked if it would be possible the to take Alex for a ride so, after transferring him onto Trixie, we were off on an adventure. They were both smiling, shouting and waving, I think it would be safe to say that Alex had a wonderful time.

Laughter. Smiles. Fun. Meeting new people. What a day!

As one resident said, “HERE’S TO WIND IN MY HAIR”
