On Thursday 16th June, our team travelled to Lindisfarne Ouston Care Home in Chester-Le-Street to meet with Claire and Amie from the Care Home Wellbeing Service and Alex, the Activities Coordinator for the care home, to introduce them to Trixie and take some residents for a ride around the local area.

We arrived promptly and the care home had organised for the car park to be empty to allow as much space as possible for trishaw rides for residents. We started by taking Alex and Amie for a quick ride around the care home car park, along the road and around public car park before returning to the care home.

We spent time talking to the team, getting to know some of the residents, telling them all about Trixie and sharing some of the stories we have collected in our time with Trixie. This was great because it helped to get the stories flowing and we found out that one of our passengers used to be a taxi driver and had the best way finding skills.

The care home isn’t too far from Penshaw Monument, which can be seen from the car park, and Herrington Country Park so we suggested we may be able to facilitate a trip to the Park with a small number of residents to take them around the park which hosts a boating lake and lots of wildlife.

We hope to see the staff and residents again soon and are hugely grateful to the Care Home Wellbeing Team for organising these taster opportunities with the care homes they support across the region.
