Elton Hall residents enjoyed their first trip around Ropner Park that they asked us back on Monday 13th June to take another group of their residents for trishaw rides around the park.

We met everyone at the gates of Ropner Park and quickly loaded up our first two passengers. They were excited to get to try out Trixie for the first time and we slowly made our way down to the duck pond and around the park grounds. The chat between the three of us was all about how long it had been since we had been on a bicycle and how good it was to have the breeze in your face.

After the first lap, we made our way back to the cafe where we changed passengers before taking another lap of the park. It was a great group of passengers who were really engaged with the experience, sharing stories, smiling and waving at passers by. We were all very tired from the fresh air.

We cannot wait for our third meet up.

One thing we did learn was that Dennis, one of the passengers, used to serve as an Engineer in the Royal Air Force. He has close family links to the owners of a local bike shop and used to travel back from where he was stationed by bicycle. This often involved cycling for around 6 hours in order to get home to spend time with his wife.
