On Friday 16th September, Robert and Alison from CWAStockton boarded McChadwick and headed south towards Derby for the Cycling Without Age England Conference, which took place on Saturday 17th September at the University of Derby.

On Friday night, we stayed at the Kings Highway Hotel by Marston’s Inns in Derby and arrived in just enough time to get some food before getting some rest after a long day and a long drive.

On Saturday morning, we made our way to Derby University, where it took a while to find the space where we were meant to park our van containing Trixie Trishaw. We arrived quite early for the conference and had time to have a look around the university facilities.

Fellow CWA representatives soon arrived and we made our way to the meeting space ready to start the event. We had a welcome video from the Founder of Cycling Without Age, Ole Kassow and the Stockton on Tees Chapter, among others, got a mention in the video. That is our claim to fame!

During the conference, speakers spoke about the growth and development of the programme across the country, trishaw maintenance, trishaw suppliers, the benefits of accessing nature, trials and tribulations of developing a local chapter and Chapter representatives spent some time getting to know each other.

In the afternoon, there was a Van Raam Chat trishaw available to have a look at and we brought Trixie, our TrioBike, onto campus so that chapters could compare and contract two of the trishaws available.

At the end of the conference, all attendees and trishaws were asked to meet in the Atrium for a group photograph.

It was a very interesting event and wonderful to meet so many different people from different backgrounds who deliver their trishaw rides in such different ways in their local community. We are looking forward to meeting with everyone again in 2023.
